Barkor Street sees prosperity again

Prosperity has returned to the Barkor Street in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, after a temporary break resulted from the March 14 riots in Lhasa.

Most of the shops and stall-keepers along the Barkor Street, have set to reopen. Visitors from around Tibet gathered in front of the Jokang Monastery, for ritual walk, Buddhism praying and shopping.

According to an owner of a handicraft shop, he is very pleased to see the street is well on track now and he is very confident of its development though he has undergone a big losses in March 14 riots.

This Barkot Street is famous for being the tourist route around the famed Jokhang Monastery in Tibet. It is the center of religion, culture, folk handicraft and Tibetan custom. The street is a prosperous commercial street where both pilgrims and tourists from all over the world have left their footprints.
